Koi Diamond

The Koi Diamond, an elongated pear shaped stone, was found more than a decade ago in in the Republic of Congo and was cut from the original 60-carat rough diamond. The diamond, it was agreed by all gemological experts involved, cannot be graded. In its polished form, the diamond displays an unusual color mix of light yellow, dark blue, black - and orange, which is the stone's dominant hue. Due to its colorless zones, the diamond is almost striped, the patterns and colors being very much reminiscent of the Koi, the ornamental, Japanese variety of carp, which are often seen in the ponds or water gardens of the Orient.
